- Lens Tip
The tested Tamron 70-180 mm f/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 has a whole long list of important assets and just three minor slip-ups. It's true that it lost the duel with the Sony FE 70-200 mm f/2.8 GM OSS II but you have to remember the fact that the Tamron can be bought for about $1300 and you have to pay twice as much for the Sony lens. - Dustin Abbott
Sony’s newest 70-200mm F2.8 GM II zoom is absolutely incredible…but it is also incredibly expensive. The new Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 lens may have a slightly reduced zoom range and a few less features, but it is also well under half the price of the GM lens [...] It can’t be used with teleconverters, but not everyone uses teleconverters anyway.
