It does have some compromises, but most of them can be seen at face value. These include an abbreviated zoom range relative to competitors and a lack of a built-in image stabilizer. An unseen compromise is a less-than-pleasing bokeh in certain situations [...] The lens has a reasonably nice build (including weather sealing), very fast and accurate autofocus, and a very strong optical performance across the zoom range.
