Pentax information and a brief history
The company was founded as Asahi Kogaku Goshi Kaisha in 1919 by Kumao Kajiwara in Tokyo and started with lenses for glasses. In 2007 it merged with Hoya Corporation, that 4 years laters sold it to Ricoh, a copier and printer manufacturer, though the brand "Pentax" was preserved for the photographic products.
