Last Friday (March 14th) Adobe released the new versions of Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw (for Photoshop CS3): Lightroom 1.4 and ACR 4.4. Essentially a minor upgrade: support for new cameras, color noise working also on black&white images and a fix/improvement when dealing with extreme color correction (camera calibration function), infact you will find a new ACR 4.4 Profile available in the "Camera Calibration" tab.

Curiously, today after 3 days (March 17th) Adobe has pulled these updates from the website for some bugs, especially regarding errors in dealing with EXIF date field and producing DNG versions, infact Adobe suggests to go back to previous versions. It may happen, but probably we'd expect some more testing for the price of Adobe's products, or am I picky?

April 10th update: Adobe has released the 1.4.1 version of Lightroom and 4.4.1 version of ACR that corrects the problems mentioned above. Additionally, import performances have been bring back to 1.3 levels (were down in 1.4) and a bunch of new cameras are supported (Canon XSi/450D, Nikon D60 and Sony A350 and others).

This should be the happy ending of the unlucky 1.4 version.
