Nikon has announced the new DSLR camera D300s, an update of the D300.

The major changes are the following:

  • video capture capability (a mandatory feature nowadays) but HD-ready with resolution up to 1280 x 720 @ 24 fps a and not full-HD. Autofocus is supported in movie mode.
  • a stereo mic input, a useful addition;
  • burst shooting up to 7 frames per second (it was 6 fps in D300);
  • dual media storage Compact Flash and SD, useful for important shots to have a backup.
  • enhancements in the D-lighting function (to correct exposure/shadows);
  • two new buttons: Live View and Info.
