DPReview8.4 The GH5S is a highly specialized filmmakers' camera that makes few concessions to anything but this core purpose. An excellent sensor combined with high bitrate, 10-bit 4:2:2 capture means the results are hugely impressive. Add an external recorder and these benefits remain, even for both UHD and DCI 60p capture. The loss of stabilization means it's limited to gimbal or tripod work but in those circumstances, it shines.
Imaging Resource This is one of the best video cameras you can buy today, and basically the best video camera at or under $2,500 (the closest competitor camera is the original GH5).[...] I can't think of any other video camera that can do as much as the GH5S that has that kind of value. It's straight up cheap.
Photo District News PROS: Class-leading video features; great low light performance and autofocusing; strong dynamic range; rapid burst shooting.
CONS: Low resolution; lacks image stabilization; pricey.
