  • DPReview 8.9/10
It is a well-built full-frame mirrorless camera that produces excellent stills and 4K video. Autofocus is reliable most of the time, including during burst shooting, though selecting a subject on which to track is clumsy. The camera's built-in image stabilization works well on native and 'classic' Nikon glass. Battery life isn't class-leading, and some improvements related to manual focus in video should be addressed, but overall Nikon has a winner in the Z6.
  • Imaging Resource
It is a terrific, well-rounded camera [...] The body is compact and robust yet features lots of physical controls as well as a styling and design language that should be familiar to existing Nikon owners but easy to understand for newcomers. Image quality is very good, the AF performance is terrific and the video features -- while not groundbreaking -- are a nice starting point for those getting more seriously into video shooting.
  • The Digital Picture
There are some valid AF-related complaints. If one needs dual memory card slots, that is another shortfall. Those who need to track erratically-moving fast action in high speed continuous shooting mode are not likely to be happy with the EVF freezing momentarily after each shot [..]. The Z6 is a compact, lightweight, comfortable-to-hold and easy-to-use camera that provides excellent image quality, great video capabilities and a very strong overall feature set.
  • TechRadar 10/10
Nikon certainly hasn't held back with the Z6, and any worries that it would miss the mark are dispelled as soon as you pick it up. Until now we'd have had little hesitation in recommending Sony's Alpha A7 III if you were in the market for a well-specced full-frame camera at around the $2,000 / £2,000 price point, but the Nikon Z6 is in many ways the more compelling option.
  • Amateur Photographer 8.8/10
It’s not perfect in every way and hopefully we’ll see Nikon squeeze a second SD card slot alongside the XQD card slot in the future, but overall the Z 6 is an astonishingly impressive camera for the money and is the full-frame camera to go for if you don’t require the Nikon Z 7’s super high resolution output.
