Willard S. Boyle and George E. Smith, inventors of the CCD imaging sensor widely used in digital cameras (the other type is CMOS sensor), have received this year's Nobel Prize for Physics.
Also the first experimenter of fibre optics (Charles K. Kao) has been given the Physics Nobel.
