  • DxO Mark 45
[Tested on 42 MP camera] Sharpness: 35 MP, distorsion 0.4%, vignetting -2.3 EV, chromatic aberration 5 μm.
  • Camera Labs
[Tested on 42 MP camera] It is a clear step-up in image quality over Sony’s own FE 85mm f1.8 lens: it’s sharper in the important areas, has less longitudinal CAs, less haloing around bright light sources, and better resistance against flare and glare in strong contra light. It also has superior build quality plus a useful display to indicate distance and depth-of-field.
  • Dustin Abbott
[Tested on 42 MP camera] It has both the advantage of being the first autofocusing 85mm option on Sony’s fledgling FE platform, but that’s also a disadvantage, as more recent options have arrived with excellent performance and easier to swallow price tags. [..] It’s also overpriced in the current landscape of 85mm lenses. [...] Batis lenses deliver consistent color, excellent contrast and detail, and are light and portable.
